Earlier in the week I mentioned that we filled up water balloons for a future game, and here it is! I froze the balloons with varying amounts of blue food coloring in them. Since we are studying day two of creation this week a lot of our activities revolve around sky and water. Once frozen I peeled the balloon off to leave the solid, colored balls of ice.
I had this set up outside when the big boys woke up from their naps.
JZ explored them for awhile. JM touched one but didn't like how cold it was. JZ kept saying his hands were cold, but he found the ice balloons too intriguing to leave them alone.
We took turns knocking down our Mickey Mouse Bowling Set
with the ice balls. (Sadly I didn't capture a photo of JM participating. He enjoyed heaving the ice at the pins.)
JZ's response was, "Awesome!"
Once he discovered that the balloons broke a bit when they hit the cement he thought it would be more exciting to smash them on the ground than to bowl with them.
Not ready for the game to be over, JZ grabbed the bowling ball to continue the fun once all the ice was smashed. JM asked if I would push him in the swing.
This looks so fun and would be a great summer activity. He looks like he had a ball. Pun intended. :-) I am a new follower visiting from I Can Teach My Child. Vicky from Mess For Less

Deletelove this idea - it's mid summer here so the balls wouldn't last for long... but I'm keen to try this in autumn / spring when the weather's milder. good job!
