Color and Movement for a Rainy Day

This game was intended for our Rainbow week, but I never got around to it with the boys.  I'm glad I put it off, because with all of the rain we've gotten this week, we were ready for some indoor, energy burning fun!  Using Photo Stacking Blocks as Education Cubes and laminated color cards from Confessions of a Homeschooler, we made a Twister inspired game.  I printed color cards from the Education Cubes Members Only site as well as blank cards to add my own movement ideas.  I laminated the blank cards and wrote on them with a dry erase marker, so I can continue to use the same blank cards over and over again for other ideas.  JZ and J-Bug each rolled a cube with color cards.  I rolled the activity cube.  They had to move to the color they rolled by performing the movement I rolled.

The movement cards included:
crawl
roll
walk
skip
jump
tip toe

The color inserts had each color word written out in the specific color, so JZ was able to practice reading his colors while J-Bug could easily see which color he rolled.

This game would be AWESOME in a large play room.  It worked in our space, but it would be neat to really spread the color cards out.

We sure have our fun.  :-)
