Playdough Easter Eggs

We love playdough and bring it out almost daily.  Playdough is a wonderful sensory tool and provides the opportunity for open ended play and creativity.  With Easter approaching I thought it would be fun to set up an invitation to make playdough Easter eggs.

Earlier I posted about making our newest batch of playdough.  I am now a fan of the no cook recipe.

J-Bug (2) was more interested in hiding the decorations in the eggs.

JZ (4) wanted to make a snowman first.  The snowman was covered in glitter, of course, because that's how he rolls.

J-Bug hid some playdough in his egg which I found days later, hard and dry.

Once the boys were interested in making eggs, we used the plastic eggs as cookie cutters for the dough.

Supplies for decorating:

• glitter (in salt and pepper shakers)
• assorted sequins
• gems
• rhinestones
• plastic eggs

 

Then we decorated them.

As always, JZ forcused intently on his creations.

J-Bug created with me for over an hour. He even asked to bring the playdough to dinner and asked for the playdough and Easter eggs again first thing the next morning.

Who can blame him?  Look at the fun we had.
