JM's Tot School post is HERE.
One of our favorite parts of each morning is singing together. The boys' latest favorite CD is Hide Em in Your Heart Vol 1 and 2.
JZ continues to progress nicely with his reading. He is reading several sentences now, and he gets very proud. I am so thankful to our friend who gave us Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons. It has been a great fit for JZ.
The last task for each lesson is writing practice which he usually chooses to do on a white board.
I've taken the past couple weeks to review sight words. JZ remembers words easily, but since we have completed six lessons of the You Can Read program, he has 24 words memorized. I'm reviewing to ensure that he has them down before adding more words to that list. Since sight words aren't a necessary skill at four years I don't want to push or move too quickly. I'd rather keep it fun. All of the review activities we are doing are fun, simple games. One day we played Bingo using pom pom magnets.
Another day we sprayed sight words with water guns. You can read about it HERE.
JZ circled the different item in each row on this sheet from 1+1+1=1.
He made a pattern using transparent counters. I had printed this kite pattern sheet from Confessions of a Homeschooler last week when he worked on the letter K, but we never got to it.
Reading his weekly easy reader is one of his favorite school activities. He usually grabs for it before I even tell him to.
For his music class JZ had to circle quarter notes, quarter rests, half notes and half rests by color.
Using magnetic color cubes
as markers, JZ graphed Toy Story characters as he rolled them and counted which toy he graphed the most and which he graphed the least. (Printable from 1+1+1=1.)
