We sure love things that GLOW!

Lately my boys have been talking about when we made Robots from recycled materials. I almost brought out similar supplies to do the same project again, but on a whim I decided to set up an invitation to make creatures that GLOW!

Supplies:
baby food jars filled with GLOW water and water beads.
(These are not necessary, but we happened to have a batch of glowing water beads handy. I figured they would make cool bodies for our aliens.)
Before we started I used the glue gun to seal the baby food jars and keep the GLOW water inside.

Like usual when we do art projects, I keep my instructions limited to safety and proper use of supplies. I don't tell the boys how to make their creations. JZ had the brilliant idea to use the glow in the dark stars as teeth for his alien. He is very comfortable with the glue gun and knows how to handle it carefully.

J-But wanted "lots and lots and lots" of spirals and pom poms on his "head". He asked me to glue the pom poms, but he showed me exactly where to put each one.

DeleteThe family art program that I work with used glow in the dark pipe cleaners for a project in the spring and the lightbulb over my head has been glowing with uses for them ever since - I hadn't even considered aliens! These are great!
